Exporting PDF

Export settings vary by tool (Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, etc.), but the goals are consistent:

  • Preserve vector detail where possible
  • Embed fonts (or outline if required)
  • Avoid downsampling that hurts print quality
  • Ensure bleed is included when needed

Quick Checks

  1. Open the exported PDF and verify trim/bleed visually.
  2. Zoom in (200-400%) and check for rasterization, hairlines, and transparency artifacts.
  3. Confirm fonts are embedded and not substituted.

Common Settings to Review

  • Bleed: included (if your document uses bleed)
  • Marks: include only if your workflow requires them
  • Compression: avoid aggressive downsampling
  • Output: confirm color conversion settings match your intent
