Exporting PDF
Export settings vary by tool (Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, etc.), but the goals are consistent:
- Preserve vector detail where possible
- Embed fonts (or outline if required)
- Avoid downsampling that hurts print quality
- Ensure bleed is included when needed
Quick Checks
- Open the exported PDF and verify trim/bleed visually.
- Zoom in (200-400%) and check for rasterization, hairlines, and transparency artifacts.
- Confirm fonts are embedded and not substituted.
Common Settings to Review
- Bleed: included (if your document uses bleed)
- Marks: include only if your workflow requires them
- Compression: avoid aggressive downsampling
- Output: confirm color conversion settings match your intent
